Poached Egg Daisies - Printed on Metal
A few weeks ago I came across the promo flyer from Print2Metal that we had picked up when we attended the PMA trade show in Melbourne back in June. I mentioned it to Jen and we immediately thought this poached egg daisy photo I made during the wildflower explosion this winter would look pretty sweet printed on metal.
Let me tell you, printing to metal rocks! This print is 510x880mm huge and looks wicked, like it is just floating on the wall. The daisy looks like you could just reach out and touch it. Fantastic.
Turns out the image is pretty durable, too. I tested it by lifting it into the path of one of our ceiling fans. Doh! I was pretty excited about unpacking it and forgot about the fan until “WHACK!”. The fan blade left a mark on the print that rubbed off without damaging the print. I am impressed. And I was relieved!
Inexpensive it wasn’t, but worth it, absolutely. I’m already thinking about what else I should print. I have a hankering to print one of my Sally Lightfoot Crab photos from the Galapagos Islands on high gloss metal. It would be stunning. Hmmm, how big should I go? Hmmm, soooo running out of wall space in the house. Maybe a whole gallery show of prints on metal?
To put the print size in perspective here’s a room shot with some of our other art for scale.
